Introducing Rex Schaeffer, VP of Legal and Chief Compliance Officer
Rex Schaeffer joins the Afni family as Vice President of Legal and Chief Compliance Officer. In this position, Rex oversees our regulatory compliance, corporate legal matters, and strategic planning.
Rex brings impressive credentials to Afni, with over 30 years of legal and leadership experience. Most recently, he was Director of Strategic Partnerships for Illinois State University while owning a consulting firm specializing in strategic planning and change management. Before that, he spent two decades in leadership positions at State Farm, earning Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter, and Chartered Leadership Fellow designations. He’s a licensed attorney and a CPA specializing in tax planning and corporate advisory service.

Rex earned a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University in Accounting and Business Administration, a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Mississippi, and a Master of Laws in Taxation from Washington University in St. Louis.
Rex enjoys spending time with his wife Valerie, son Jack, and a lab puppy named Rudy. He’s also a faithful fan of the Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Blues, and St. Louis Cardinals.
