End of year giving with AfniCARES

Posted January 11, 2021 in Afni News

2020 was a year of great uncertainty for so many. Here at Afni, our AfniCARES program stepped up and turned that uncertainty into joy and positivity. During the fourth quarter, Afni employees supported their own and their communities during annual giving programs and in response to tragedy. Keep reading to learn about these amazing efforts!

The last few months of 2020 were quite busy here at Afni. With much of our workforce still working from home, we headed into a holiday season unlike any other. Many worldwide were feeling the lingering effects the pandemic had caused and were heading into the holidays with uncertainty. So, our global teams worked diligently to take our annual Snowflake Tree, which allows employees to adopt a Snowflake and support a child in need within the Afni family, to a virtual format. While it was challenging to pull off, Afni leaders knew the initiative was more important than ever this year. In the end, Afni employees adopted Snowflakes and helped provide gifts and support to over 900 children and families at Afni sites worldwide!

While our global teams worked to build the new virtual Snowflake Tree, Typhoon Ulysses hit the Philippines, causing much of our Filipino workforce to lose their ability to work-from-home or travel to our centers. We wanted to do our part to help those Afni employees who experienced suffering and loss from the typhoon. Quickly, we created the Afni Employee Typhoon Relief Fund where Afni employees from any geography could make monetary contributions in support of their co-workers. These contributions helped our team buy supplies and provide needed assistance, helping those affected to get back on their feet quickly.

Meanwhile, in Bloomington, IL, the annual United Way Campaign was in full swing. Each year our Bloomington employees participate in this campaign to help raise funds to support United Way of McLean County in their efforts to bring basic human necessities such as housing, food, childcare, healthcare, and transportation to the local community. At Afni, this campaign typically involves some exciting onsite activities for our employees, encouraging them to donate. This year, we found great success in our virtual format and are proud of our employees for the support they showed their community!

Thank you to all the Afni employees who participated in these AfniCARES initiatives. We can’t wait to see what our teams will do in 2021!
