Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Afni and why are you contacting me?
Afni partners with insurance carriers to assist with subrogation - the process of recovering claim payments when another party may be responsible for a loss.
If you’ve received a notice from us, the insurance company has asked Afni to help review and resolve a claim related to an accident or loss. Our role is to communicate with you, gather information if needed, and work toward a fair resolution.
I had/have insurance. How do I provide proof?
You can submit proof of insurance in any of the following ways:
-
Log in to our secure online portal and upload your insurance information
-
Provide the name of your insurance company and their contact information through the portal
-
Call us directly and share your insurance carrier’s details with one of our representatives
Once we’re able to confirm that the vehicle was covered by an active insurance policy at the time of the accident, we will promptly release you from this obligation and notify the appropriate parties as needed.
If you’re unsure what information to provide, please contact us at SubroCustService@afni.com or toll free at 866-993-9511.
Why did my license get suspended and how do I get it back?
In many states, a driver’s license may be suspended after an accident if an insurance claim related to that accident remains unresolved. This typically happens when required insurance information was not on file or a claim for damages has not been addressed.
To reinstate your license, you may need to:
-
Provide proof the vehicle was covered by an active insurance policy at the time of the accident, or
-
Resolve the claim by paying the balance or setting up an approved payment arrangement.
Once the claim is resolved or valid insurance coverage is confirmed, we can notify the appropriate state agency so you can complete the reinstatement process. You may also need to pay a reinstatement fee directly to your state’s motor vehicle department.
If you have questions about your specific situation, please contact us toll-free at 866-993-9511. We’re here to help you understand your options.
I can't pay the full damage claim amount. What can I do?
We understand situations like this can be unexpected, and we want to work with you to find a fair and manageable resolution. We’re available to discuss your options, including possible payment arrangements that fit your circumstances. You can reach us toll-free at 866-993-9511.
What is an installment agreement?
If you’re unable to pay the full amount at once, we offer payment plans to make it more manageable. An installment agreement is a payment plan that allows you to make smaller payments weekly, biweekly, or monthly based on what fits your budget.
Entering into a payment plan may also help you begin the process of reinstating your driver’s license, if it has been suspended. To set up a plan that works for you, please contact one of our representatives.
What happens after I complete my installment agreement?
Once your installment agreement is finalized, Afni will provide you with a copy. Please keep this for your records.
You will then need to follow your state’s instructions for submitting or presenting the agreement to your local DMV or state financial responsibility office. Some states require an original, signed paper copy, rather than a digital copy.
We recommend contacting your local DMV or state office to confirm their specific requirements. Our representatives will make sure you receive the necessary paperwork as quickly as possible and review your delivery options with you.
